Amanda, a young and recently widowed clairvoyant, has the power of psychometry, the ability to mentally read objects. Her evolving psychic abilities have become the bane of her existence as telepathy and mediumistic abilities begin to rear their ugly heads. It’s simply not possible that she can hear and see her dead husband, right? To make matters worse, her scintillating boss, Zachary, can’t seem to keep his hands to himself. Did she truly see that screaming hot future sex scene with her boss?

What’s a grieving widow to do when she’s really not ready to have a new man in her life, her dead husband is determined to play matchmaker, her domineering boss wants to play footsy, his family wants her to play super-sleuth and medium, and her BFF wants her help finding her biological parents? Why, she’ll use her power of touch, if she’s not a bit ‘touched’ herself!

Warning: adult content; contains explicit sex scenes, and a clumsy clairvoyant with a potty mouth.

The Biz:

How many books do you currently have published?

I have one book published, Amanda’s Touch (D.A.R.E’ing Women, Book #1)

What is the next book you have releasing?

I don’t have a release date as yet, but it will be Heather’s Haven (D.A.R.E’ing Women, Book #2)

Veterinarian, Heather Mackenzie, is an empath with a dark and painful past. She is also the founder of D.A.R.E, an abused women’s underground network. Discover what happens when an independent, strong-willed, but emotionally damaged young woman is confronted with a new love interest, who just won’t believe that Heather will always be ‘damaged goods’.

Reece Davenport is a telepath, and a psychiatrist, who specializes in the care of traumatized women and children. He’ll do whatever he can to help Heather heal, but he has some issues of his own that come in the form of an unfaithful ex-wife and adulterous best friend.

Will Reece be able to handle the pressures and uncertainty that surround Heather’s calling? Will Heather be able to move beyond her past and, ultimately, after a serious misunderstanding, convince Reece, and herself, that she is ready for a future? With him?

What book are you writing right now?

Riley’s Chase (D.A.R.E’ing Women, Book #3) is a WIP

Riley Jeanette Collins, RJ to her few friends, is a medium. Yes, she sees dead people. She’s an expert in weaponry, with unparalleled martial arts skills gained through her experience with, first the military, and then the CIA. Now employed by D.A.R.E, an abused women’s underground network, as a retrieval agent recovering kidnapped victims, she’s a team leader who gets people out of the predicaments they get themselves into. If that requires a hand-to-hand, a blade, or her favorite Sig Sauer, so be it. Men? Who the hell needs those? After growing up with an abusive father, it sure isn’t her!

Chase Riordan is the owner of Riordan TechSecurity and a former member of the Army’s Special Forces. He has a BIG problem, and no, it isn’t his slightly chauvinistic attitude toward women. His niece has been kidnapped by her father in a divorce dispute and the guy has hied off to Mexico with the adorable four year old. Chase’s sister, Caroline disappears when she attempts to follow in order to get her baby back. He contacts his friends Reece Davenport and his wife Heather Mackenzie Davenport who send RJ in to rescue them.

Watch the fireworks that Riley and Chase create as Ms. Independence and Mr. Chauvinist meet and butt heads.

Heather’s Haven (D.A.R.E’ing Women Book #2)

What is your favorite type of Hero/Heroine to write about? Why?

I like to see a hero and/or heroine who has ‘overcome’. We all struggle with challenges in our lives and sometimes think we may not be strong enough to conquer them. Reading about those who do, remind us that we, too, can overcome.

I like a strong and caring hero, who can be alpha-like but isn’t too over-the-top and who has suffered through some of the same issues and insecurities as the rest of the world.

My heroines must have a backbone. Yes, they may have been victimized in some fashion, but they can and will succeed to rise above. Typically, I like to see the heroine able to do this on her own, but the love of a good man never hurts.

What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Following through with my writing plans for the day. We all have obligations, whether family, friends, or employers. As a writer you are your own boss and must make sure to keep yourself on track. This is VERY difficult for me as I have several different teaching positions, freelance work, a bed-ridden parent, a husband, two married daughters, and three grandchildren. Yes, my days are full and that doesn’t even begin to include any writing time I need to set aside. My family is extremely important to me and if I need to ‘borrow’ time from one aspect of my life to infuse into another I will always take it from my writing time to give to my family.

Advice for aspiring and new writers?

Find a good editor. There is nothing more irritating to a reader than grammar, typo, and formatting issues. Try, try again! There is a niche for you somewhere. Don’t take criticism personally. You can’t please all of the people, all of the time. Plan your writing day and make sure you follow through. You are your own boss, there is no one to keep you on task, but you. It is impossible to be objective about your own work. Find people around you who will not only support you in your endeavors, but who will be honest with you about it, and then respect what they have to say.

Who did you dedicate your first book to?

“To both of my wonderful daughters, who remind me to live each day to its fullest, to find magic in the ordinary, and that with loving comes a full heart.”

Do you have any rituals for Book Release Day?

Not yet. Unless you count checking, checking, and then re-checking to see if it has gone live

What author are you dying to meet? OR What author have you met that you had a fan girl/guy moment?

OMG! What author?! I can only meet one? No way! I would never be able to choose. Here are just a few of my fav’s: Maya Banks, Tymber Dalton, Lauren Dane, Laurann Dohner, Lori Foster, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, George R.R. Martin, Christy Reese, Katie Reus, J.R. Ward, and of course, Lori King!

The Random:

How would your spouse or best friend describe you in three words?

Loving, sarcastic, and spontaneous. There are a few others that aren’t so nice as well, lol!

What was the last movie you went to see?

The Conjuring – with my hubby. Wow! I didn’t realize how long it had been since I’ve been to a theater!

If you were an animal what kind of animal would you be and why?

Hmm… Not an easy one for me. I love animals of all kinds. Perhaps a jaguar. Fearless, predatory, sleek, and powerful.

What is your favorite quote ever?

“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along. You must do the thing you think you cannot do” – Eleanor Roosevelt.

If you could be a superhero, what would you want your super powers to be?

Teleportation. I love to travel!

What song is on your iPod/Mp3/Stereo right now?

Billy Currington’s ‘Hey Girl’

Favorite place to curl up with a good book?

Reading nook, love seat, in my bedroom. With lots of pillows!

The Good Stuff:

If you had to pick one item to bring to the bedroom with you what would it be?

Go ahead and laugh! My Kindle! Don’t tell my husband!

What feature on the opposite sex attracts you the most?

Their eyes. Eyes really are the mirror of a person’s soul. They are the first feature I check out on a man. I don’t really care if a guy has a six/eight pack. I want to know how kind he is and his eyes will tell me that every time.

What would you pick as the sexiest scene from a book? (Doesn’t have to be your own, but it can be)

Lauren Dane’s Beneath the Skin: De La Vega Cats

Chapter 5, location 916 – 997

Scene between the heroine, Mia Porter, and the hero, Gibson De La Vega when they come together for the first time, no pun intended. Both characters have strong, but playful personalities. Mia asks for what she wants, practically demands it as her due and Gibson loves the fact that she doesn’t hesitate to do so. Something about both lovers being so open and honest with each other really impresses me. Gibson doesn’t simply overwhelm Mia’s senses she makes him work for it 😉

Lovemaking, Wham Bam, Kinky Fuckery?

All of the above. Variety IS the spice of life, right?

Tall Dark and Handsome or Playful Funny and Sexy?

On the occasion I do like the bad boys (tall, dark, and handsome), but you can never go wrong with playful, funny, and sexy.

What actor/actress would you be willing to run away from your life for?

Josh Halloway! Talk about a bad boy vibe. Yowza, that man is sexy as sin!

If you had a warning label, what would it say?

According to one of my sons-in-law:

Warning: Brutally honest! If you don’t really want to know, don’t ask!

Excerpt

Story Excerpt: Amanda introduces her new lover, Zachary, to the spirit of her dead husband, David.

The air turned hazy and thick around them, almost too thick to breathe, and Zack looked wildly around them, wondering what the hell was going on. The room became almost uncomfortably hot and Zack watched, blinking repeatedly in astonishment, as Amanda’s dead husband appeared before them.

He immediately dropped his hands from Amanda’s body, almost as though they were teenagers who’d been caught by their parents while making out. Or rather, lovers caught in an affair by the other’s spouse, was more like it. And, though he was still trying to come to grips with what he’d just seen, Zack couldn’t help but wish that Amanda was wearing more than a flimsy robe, and that he had on more than just his briefs.  He was embarrassed to be caught with his pants down, so to speak. Amanda was right. He did seem to have pants issues, he decided randomly.

As soon as his hands left Amanda, his ability to see David was gone, though the air was just as oppressive. Intuitively, he placed one hand on her shoulder and David swam blurrily back into a hazy focus.  When he placed both hands on her Zack saw David just as well as Amanda always had. He’d immediately figured it was Amanda’s emotional tie to David that would allow Zack the best reception, like an old TV antenna.  He was proud of himself, momentarily. Then he was afraid again, kind of. No, he was definitely afraid, he admitted squeamishly.

Amanda, on the other hand, was not. She was annoyed. “David Alexander! What the hell was that about? You didn’t need to throw things to make your point, you horse’s ass!” She scolded him like any wife would, but he heard the deep affection in her tone and saw her warm smile.

“Why all the drama and spooks activity? And let me tell you, if you can break it, you can damn well clean it up.” She shook her finger at him.

“I was simply attempting to assure lover boy here that you are not delusional. You know that’s what he was thinking when you told him about me. How else was I to get the guy’s attention, Sweets?” David asked her blandly.

Zack looked from David to Amanda in something much greater than amazement or surprise. If someone had asked him what he was feeling right now there wouldn’t be words for it, he was …. Flummoxed? Would that work, he mused? This was all so surreal!

“Zachary, I’d like to introduce you to my husband, David.” Then gesturing from her husband to him she said, “David, meet Zack.”

Amanda watched in amusement as Zack’s mouth moved to form words and nothing came out. “Breathe, Zack” she reminded him.

Zack took a deep breath and reached up to rub his eyes, still not able to believe what he was seeing, and of course as soon as he did, David’s image winked out.

“Damn it!” He hurriedly placed both hands back on Amanda.

He watched with something akin to horror as David, smiling humorously, reached out to shake his hand. Zack gaped at him, automatically slipping off the bed, stepping forward, and extending his in the age-old greeting ritual. As he did, he removed both hands from Amanda, and David vanished once more.

“Shit!” he muttered in frustration. He heard Amanda chuckle at his confusion and this time he placed his left hand on her right arm while extending his right as David reappeared in a more watery version.

“It’s nice to finally meet you, Zack. Or rather, it’s nice to meet you again,” David told him.

As their hands met Zack could actually feel the firm grip of David’s unexpectedly hot handshake, but the feel of the flesh was strange. It was like holding a mass of energy in the form of a solid rather than holding a solid itself, and he stared in wonder at their hands. He wanted to try to wrap his other hand around David’s as well, to see how substantial it really was, but knew if he took it off of Amanda, David would disappear again.

David pumped his hand a couple of times and then released it, leaning around Zack, who was still attached to Amanda, to give her a hug, wrapping both arms around her.

Zack felt a deep ache in his chest as he watched Amanda and her husband. She closed her eyes and laid her head against David’s shoulder in a gesture that told Zack more than words ever could how close they’d both been, then she returned his hug one-armed since Zack was awkwardly hanging onto her other hand to maintain his visual with David. Zack vaguely noticed that she didn’t seem upset or disturbed in any way at having both of them there together.

While David held Amanda close against him he asked her very seriously “How’re you doing, Mandy? How’s the wrist and leg?” Zack could see the concern in the man’s eyes for his young widow.

“I’m fine, honey, don’t worry about it. Zack took care of my leg again this morning. Before long I’ll be back to my normal klutzy self.” She smiled self-deprecatingly.

“That’s what I’m worried about,” both men quipped at the same time, and briefly grinned at each other.

Amanda sighed in exasperation. “Cut it out!”

“Thank you for doing such a great job on her leg by the way,” David said, turning to Zack.

“My pleasure,” Zack replied before thinking, and then felt himself turn beet red as he remembered what had begun to transpire after Amanda woke up, and once again he realized he was standing before her husband in nothing but his underwear. Reality check, his mind supplied, and Zack choked back a nearly hysterical laugh.  Was anything about this real?
