Have you ever wondered?

by on June 21, 2013

I’m taking over Lori’s blog today, to ask you all a question, and share my personal experience with you. Have you ever wondered that the universe works in mysterious ways? I sure have!

You see, not in a MILLION years would I have ever thought that I would be hooked on reading. I was never a big reader-a movie buff, yes-but not a big reader. Until someone handed me (yes I’m going to say it, even though I know some of you are going to yell) Fifty Shades of Grey. It was my first encounter with erotic romance, and no matter what you think of the book, I have to thank her for writing it. She brought me a whole new world of erotica, smut, romance, mommy porn, whatever you want to call it. I call it heaven.

Since then, I have read so many amazing authors that have continued to open my mind to new things. Things that I never thought would interest me. I’m being educated by the books that I am reading, and I’m finding that a lot of these things turn me on.

Lets take BDSM for example. What girl hasn’t fantasized about being tied up at the mercy of her man, and spanked before she had the best orgasm of her life? I know I have, but I never would have voiced my fantasies before, or asked for what I wanted. I was inexperienced, having only had 2 partners in my life, and I didn’t know what I wanted.

Now? Lets just say I’m trying new things all the time. Even going so far as to order my first flogger, yep, I’ve come a long ways. These amazing authors have brought out the animal side of me, and I couldn’t be happier. Who would have thought that at 36 I would only just now be learning what my sexual desires are? Now that I know what I’ve been missing, I want to keep learning about me and what I like and what I want. I know that I can’t be the only late bloomer out there that had a light bulb moment after reading one of these sexy, hot, OMG give it to me now books. I would love to hear that I’m not alone in this!

With all of that said, here is how the universe works in mysterious ways….once I was hooked on this genre, I began meeting fabulous authors and readers through the Righteous Perverts group. The people in RP welcomed me with open arms, and were a wealth of knowledge, pointing me in the direction of books that fit what I liked. They were always willing to answer questions without judging me for what I didn’t know. They are an amazing group of people, and I’m lucky enough to call them friends.

This is where Lori comes in. Lori and I met through RP, and from the first time we talked, I knew we would become fast friends. Then the unbelievable happened. Lori asked me to Beta read for her. I was speechless. It was something that I wanted to do, but didn’t know how to approach it, or if it was something I should even ask. To say I was a happy girl, doesn’t even come close to describing how I felt.

As they say, the rest is history. I’m reading what I love, and learning about myself in the process. I have an amazing relationship with Lori, and I’m very honored to call her friend. I Beta read for her whenever she needs me, and I love doing it. It’s not easy, and it takes a lot of trust and honesty from both sides, but we make it work. One of my favorite things, is having a group session with all of the Beta’s and Lori, hashing out plots, and scenes that didn’t work-or REALLY worked-it’s a hoot to say the least! It’s amazing what can happen when women get together on this one topic.

So I went from not being a reader at all, to loving books more than any other hobby. I used to watch a lot of T.V.  and movies, but now I pick up a book instead. Reading has brought me to the most amazing bunch of pervs a girl could ask for, and to Lori-an amazing author, who respects my opinion, and trusts me with her work. It’s an honor to be trusted with her blood, sweat, and tears.

So that is how my universe works in the most mysterious ways…

Love it Lisa, I think it is truly amazing the way that life works. I am glad you found reading a passion i have had for most of my life. I was 13 when I got introduced to Nora Roberts and I haven’t looked back. Sophie Oak was my first truly erotic read and I found the Pervs through her in her third Siren book she mentioned them and I have not looked back.

    Love ya.
