I am thrilled to be back on Lori’s blog, especially because today is the release day for my second book! Last month, when my first book released (the same day as Lori’s Legacy of the Wolf!) I thought that today was still far off. Now, suddenly, here it is! The Art of Love is the second in my Hedon Falls series. It is about a young woman who opens her own art gallery. As she searches for artwork, she also finds love.I decided to write about art and artists because I am most definitely NOT an artist! But I love looking at art and I am in continual awe of anyone who can start with a blank canvas and create something which has the power to inspire, shock, cheer, or sadden people. The focus in the book is erotic art. Too often, art which portrays sexual acts or provocative models, is classed as pornography. Kind of like erotic romance! I disagree.

Art is created to provoke reactions. If it doesn’t, it usually isn’t considered a very good piece. Erotic art is more about feelings, or the ideas, than it is about sexual arousal (although arousal is a nice side effect). When we’re watching porn, hubby tells me he prefers the scenes where the woman is still wearing clothing of some kind, because something is still left to the imagination. I think it’s the same with art. In art, there is always room for the imagination to play.

What do you think about erotic art? Is it strictly pornographic, or does it have something deeper to offer? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

The Art of Love

Melanie Hynes owns the brand-new art gallery in Hedon Falls. When she decides to make erotic art the theme of her opening exhibition, she goes in search of artwork.

Justin Gauthier creates a unique blend of painting and photography. Melanie finds his youth and vigor intoxicating. David Hannah can sculpt provocative pieces from ordinary materials. And Melanie discovers that he is very good with his hands. Garrett Anderson’s paintings of BDSM are shocking and arousing. When Melanie asks about the lifestyle, he teaches her.

Three men, each with their own distinct talents, and she falls hard and fast for all of them.

When David finds out she is seeing other men, he is hurt and angry. Confused by her attraction to three men, she doesn’t know who to choose. Justin and Garrett show her the joys of sharing, and she thinks that may be the key to her dilemma. Can she convince David to consider a ménage?
