The Biz:

How many books do you currently have published?  I currently have 46 books published. The majority of them are with Siren-BookStrand. I also have a couple with Ellora’s Cave and some older titles with eXtasy Books, Total-E-Bound, and Write Words Inc.

Do you have anything in progress right now? I’ve just started book 5 of The Service Club series. I wish I could tell you more about it, but it’s so recently started I haven’t even decided on the title yet.

What is your favorite type of Hero/Heroine to write about? I love to write about Heroes/Heroines in public service professions such as law enforcement, military, medical, etcetera. Men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect us, our country, and our freedom.

What genre do you prefer to write? Erotic romance, definitely. I prefer the contemporary suspense sub-genre most, though I have written many books that fall in the paranormal, fantasy, or simple contemporary sub-genres.

What is the hardest part of writing for you? The first line. Seriously! I think the first line of a story is vital to drawing the reader’s attention. It instantly sets the mood of the story and tells the reader, “Hey, you really want to read this book.”

Advice for aspiring and new writers? Write, write, write! Read, read, read! Then write some more. Writing takes an insurmountable level of self-discipline. You have to make yourself sit down at that computer and put that story on the screen despite all the other things that are vying for your attention. You also have to stay current on what is being put on the market. I’m not saying to write the latest craze, because those come and go and what’s really hot at that moment may not be where your talent lies. Still, it’s beneficial to know what is being published and what readers are sinking their teeth into.

Do you use photo’s for visual inspiration when creating your characters, or just your imagination? I very rarely use a photo when creating my characters. I sometimes use them when I’m describing a specific place like a house or city or even a certain item that is important to the story. Generally, I rely on my characters to give me their description and tell me what the world looks like around them.

Who did you dedicate your first book to? My first published book was a YA novel titled The Feud that I dedicated to my step-mother. Her guidance, support, and faith is what put me on the right track to starting a writing career at the age of 15.

How do you come up with inspiration for your books? Anywhere and everywhere. Anything can spark an idea for a story. Something that happens, people I see, an item I run across, something I read… Then I play the what if game. What if this were to happen? How would he/she feel and react? What would happen next? And so on.

Are you Male, or Female? Female

What would we find in your fridge if you were to do an episode of MTV Cribs? My fridge is pretty bare right now. Lets see…the usual condiments, sandwich meat, milk, Coke Zero, tea, leftovers from last night’s dinner. Oh, and the night before that! Looks like I need to stop writing long enough to go grocery shopping. LOL

Detective Ford Harris has a sharp eye for detail and keenly developed senses. Right now his eye is on Rayne. When he discovers the deadly surprise caught on film, he fears he’ll need all his senses to bring the threat down before it gets to her.

It’s been years since a woman caught EMT Cory Nox’s heart, but Rayne Jacobs manages to do it on sight. The discovery that she’s also the woman his roommate has fallen for spells pleasure with a capital P. But will it be his EMT skills that are needed most when danger comes down on their heads?
